BUILT TO BE USED BY EVERYONE.
Technology should make life easier — that principle applies to this website just as much as it does to the systems we install. This statement explains what we’ve done to make [SITE_URL] accessible, where we know we still fall short, and exactly how to reach a human if something gets in your way.
01 Our commitment
[COMPANY_LEGAL_NAME] is committed to making its website, products and services usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability, device or assistive technology. We treat accessibility as an ongoing obligation rather than a one-time project.
A large part of our work — voice control, automated lighting, hands-free entertainment, remote monitoring — genuinely improves independence for people with disabilities and for older adults ageing in place. It would be inconsistent to sell that and then publish a website you can’t navigate. If any part of this site or our service creates a barrier for you, that is a defect on our side, and we want to hear about it.
02 Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. There are three levels of conformance: A, AA and AAA.
- Target standard
- WCAG 2.1, Level AA
- Current status
- [CONFORMANCE_LEVEL] — meaning some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the standard. The known gaps are listed in section 07 below.
- Scope
- All pages under [SITE_URL], including the online shop, booking forms and installation guides.
- Assessed by
- [ASSESSMENT_METHOD]
We publish our actual status rather than a blanket claim of full compliance. If you find an issue that isn’t listed here, it’s new to us — please report it and we’ll add it.
03 Accessibility features on this site
The following have been deliberately built in and are tested as part of our release process.
- Full keyboard operation. Every link, button, menu and form field can be reached and activated with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a clearly visible focus outline.
- Skip links. A “skip to content” link appears as soon as you press Tab, so you don’t have to travel through the navigation on every page.
- Semantic structure. Real headings, lists, landmarks and labels so screen readers can announce and navigate the page properly.
- Text alternatives. Meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text; purely decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology so they don’t add noise.
- Colour contrast. Body text and interface controls are checked against the 4.5:1 minimum, and colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
- Reduced motion support. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations, transitions and background movement are switched off automatically.
- Zoom and reflow. Content remains readable and usable at 200% zoom and adapts down to narrow screens without horizontal scrolling or loss of function.
- Clear forms. Every field has a visible, permanent label; errors are described in text next to the field rather than signalled by colour alone; nothing relies on a time limit.
- Multiple ways to reach us. Phone, text, email and web form — so no single channel becomes a barrier.
04 What we do internally
To keep accessibility from drifting as the site changes, we have committed to the following practices.
- Accessibility is included in our internal policies and in the brief for any new page, template or third-party integration.
- A named person is responsible for accessibility and for answering reports sent to the address below.
- New templates are checked with automated tooling plus manual keyboard and screen-reader passes before they go live.
- We review this statement at least annually, and sooner after any significant redesign.
- Reported barriers are logged and prioritised alongside other defects, not parked indefinitely.
05 Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology
This site is designed to work with current browsers and assistive technologies. It is tested against the following combinations.
- Browsers
- Current and previous major versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on both desktop and mobile.
- Screen readers
- NVDA and JAWS on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, TalkBack on Android.
- Other tools
- Browser zoom, operating-system text scaling, high-contrast modes, voice control and dictation, and switch or keyboard-only input.
- Not supported
- Internet Explorer and other browsers no longer receiving security updates. The content will generally still be readable, but layout and interactive features may not behave correctly.
06 Technical specifications
Accessibility of this site relies on the following technologies working in combination with your browser and any assistive technology or plugin you use: HTML, WAI-ARIA, CSS, JavaScript and SVG. These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the standard named above.
Core content and navigation are written to remain available if JavaScript fails to load, though some enhancements such as scroll animations and live form validation will not be present.
07 Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some limitations remain. Below is a description of what we know about, why it happens, and what we’re doing about it. Review the list and delete anything that does not apply to your site before publishing.
- Embedded maps. The interactive map on our contact page is provided by a third party and we cannot fully control its keyboard and screen-reader behaviour. Our service area and address are always given in plain text nearby so the map is never the only source of that information.
- Video captions. Newer installation videos are captioned. Some older videos and manufacturer-supplied clips are not yet captioned or audio-described; we are working through the back catalogue and will caption any specific video on request.
- Older PDFs and manuals. Some documents, particularly manufacturer manuals we host for convenience, are not tagged for accessibility. Contact us and we will supply the information in an accessible format.
- Third-party product content. Product images, descriptions and reviews supplied by manufacturers or shoppers may lack adequate alternative text or use inaccessible markup. We correct these as we find them.
- Brand logos. Partner and manufacturer wordmarks must be reproduced as supplied under trademark rules, which occasionally means their contrast falls below our own target.
- Payment and checkout. Parts of the checkout are handled by our payment provider inside their own interface, and their accessibility is outside our direct control. We can take an order by phone if checkout presents a barrier.
Anything on this list can be worked around by a person. Call or email us and we will read out prices, describe a product, take an order, or send a document in large print, plain text or another format you prefer — at no extra cost.
08 Adjusting your own device
You may not need anything from us at all — your browser and operating system already include controls that this site is built to respect.
Make text bigger
Press Ctrl and + on Windows, or Cmd and + on a Mac, to zoom in. On a phone or tablet, increase the text size in your display settings. Our layout reflows rather than clipping.
Reduce animation
Turning on “reduce motion” in your accessibility settings — on Windows, macOS, iOS or Android — will stop the moving backgrounds, fades and hover effects on this site automatically.
Navigate without a mouse
Press Tab to move forward through links and controls, Shift and Tab to move back, and Enter or Space to activate. The first press of Tab on any page reveals a link that jumps straight to the main content.
Increase contrast
This site adapts when your system requests higher contrast. If the result is still hard to read for you, tell us which page and what you’re using — that’s exactly the sort of report we act on.
09 Accessible service and installations
Accessibility isn’t only a website matter for us. It affects how we book, install and support.
- Book however suits you. Online form, phone, text or email — all reach the same team. Tell us your preferred contact method and we will use it.
- Accessibility-focused design. Tell us about mobility, vision, hearing or dexterity needs during the free consultation and we will specify equipment accordingly — voice control, tactile or large-button remotes, visual door and alarm alerts, automated lighting and locks, and simplified single-button scenes.
- Walkthroughs at your pace. We will repeat the handover, include a family member, carer or support worker, and leave written instructions in large print if that helps. There is no charge for going over it again.
- Support in the format you need. Remote support can be delivered by phone, text, email or screen sharing. Ask and we will send guides as plain text or large print rather than as a PDF.
- Reasonable accommodations. If you need something not listed here to work with us comfortably, ask. We will do what we reasonably can.
10 Feedback
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this site and our service. If you hit a barrier, please tell us. Where possible, including the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser, device or assistive technology you were using helps us reproduce and fix the problem quickly — but a plain description in your own words is perfectly enough.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days and to tell you what we intend to do about the issue, including a timeframe. If a fix will take a while, we will offer a way to get the same information or service in the meantime.
Report an accessibility barrier
Any of these reaches the person responsible for accessibility at [COMPANY_LEGAL_NAME].
11 Formal complaints
If you contact us about an accessibility problem and you are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate it. Write to us at [POSTAL_ADDRESS] or email [A11Y_EMAIL] marking the message “formal accessibility complaint”. A manager who was not involved in the original response will review it.
If you are still not satisfied, you may raise the matter with [JURISDICTION_BODY].
To be completed before publishing. Replace [JURISDICTION_BODY] with the correct regulator for where you operate — requirements differ by country, state and province. Remove this note once done.
